Prince Alfred Hamlet, doesn’t it just sound magical?

This small town in the picturesque Warm Bokkeveld was founded by Johannes Cornelis Goosen, a farmer who moved to the area from the Klein Drakensteyn in the late 19th century.

Our beautiful guesthouse is situated on the working farm, Rooikraal, a mere five minutes out of town.

The Perfect Surrounding

January is warmest time of year in Prince Alfred Hamlet with an average temperature of 29.9 degrees Celsius at noon. July is coldest with an average temperature of 3.1 degrees Celsius at night.

Temperatures drop sharply at night. In winter there may be some days that it freezes, although overall, winters are mild in temperature, with the coldest month most often being July.

Accommodation

The house is nestled between pear orchards with beautiful views of the wonderful Witzenberg mountains from the front and back stoep. It is the perfect place to sip on a cup of morning brew after a good night’s rest. Three spacious en-suite bedrooms makes this guesthouse perfect for a farm breakaway for the whole family.

Ceres Zip slide Tour offers 8 slides, totalling a length of 1.4km – this is the best Zipline Tour in Africa! The amazing rock formations and river form a perfect backdrop to a fun-, adrenaline-filled adventure! The surrounding Skurweberg Mountains forms a picturesque backdrop to your journey.

Our family of 5 had a great stay! The wonderful winter bed linen and fireplace kept us cosy on a cold weekend. The bedrooms are large and all en suite and the house was extremely clean. Everything we needed was in the kitchen and the nespresso machine is an added bonus! My children loved helping to feed all the chickens and horses. Will definitely be returning!

EXCELLENT WITH SUPER 5 STAR HOSTS!!! GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR KIDS WHO HAVE RARELY EXPERIENCED FARM LIFE We loved our time away at Rooikraal Guesthouse farm. The owners Peet and Corli went beyond our expectations to meet ALL our requirements!! They even took the time to show us all their farm animals which was an awesome and fun experience. Our friends went for long mountain bike rides. There is a dam where you can fish and do watersport but it was snowing on the surrounding mountains and therefore too cold. The house keeper Doedoe was such a star and came in daily to clean and tidy up. We just had the best and most relaxing long weekend on this gorgeous farm!! Thank you Peet and Corli!!!

Corli and Peet are lovely hosts who really made us feel at home in their beautiful farm house. Spectacular views, spacious rooms and all en suite bathrooms. We only stayed for one night, but will definitely return for a longer stay! The fire place was an absolute favourite for all of us which enhanced the cosy atmosphere during the stormy weather. Will highly recommend
